Self-Improvement Starts in the Kitchen
We're celebrating Self-Improvement Month this September, and we're starting in a place we're passionate about, the kitchen! There are a lot of things you can do to make yourself feel better, taking care of yourself, for yourself is what the month is all about.
Start feeling better inside and out by giving your body the fuel it needs to run its best. Remember studying the food pyramid when you were a kid? It's still important as an adult. It makes for a natural starting point for healthy eating guidelines. My favorite thing about the food pyramid is that it includes all the food groups, that's right, even the "bad" ones.
I am a firm believer in not denying myself. That doesn't mean overindulging, but I refuse to remove a food group I enjoy from my diet completely. Everything is okay in moderation right? That seems to be the line of thinking supported by the food pyramid, eating mostly foods that are healthful (though it may go a little heavy on starches for my taste) but allowing yourself a little bit of everything.
Eating all those fruits and veggies that are good for you will help you feel vibrant and healthful, eating proteins and "good carbs" will help you feel full and energized, and eating a few treats will help you feel happy and sweet.
