Allergy Friendly Halloween

There are many different ways to keep Halloween safe for you and your family. If you have children going trick or treating, there seems to be an endless list of safety tips. Even if you aren't going trick or treating, you can help keep Halloween safe.

When you buy your Halloween candy, include a variety of options, including some that are allergy-free. You can ask children, or their parents if they have any allergies, and if they do, give them a safe option for their needs. That doesn't mean you cannot buy your favorite candy if it includes allergens, it just means you get to have more candy when you also include allergy-safe options. 

While there is a larger variety of food allergies and sensitivities out there, a few of the main ones are:

1. Nuts

2. Gluten

3. Milk

4. Dairy

5. Soy

You don't need to worry yourself about having too many options available, there are plenty of options that are free of all of these allergens, having just one in your dish will be plenty. Many stores this time of year are selling variety candy bags for Halloween, look for a mix that has one allergen free option in it, and you'll be good to go. If you prefer you can mix and match to create variety and include as many of these as you like. Have a safe and happy Halloween!
